Hello everyone,
I hit rock bottom and had to pull out of university abandoning my near perfect score in school and a promising future. I also broke up with the only woman I have ever truly loved and lost faith in many of my friends and family members... you know the deal.
So I did doxy 400mg/day, clindamycin 500mg/day and quinine 1 tab per day for about
5 months I was doing much better and thought maybe I was going into remission but then I crashed pretty hard.
Sore throat came back real strong and terrible lower back pain which I hadnt had in a long time.
I feel more functional than prior to that treatment so maybe something was eradicated...
I have two main questions:
1. I started atovaquone/proguanil and azithromycin. Took 4x 250/100 atovaquone/proguanil for 4 first days then went 2x/day and am taking azithromycin 500mg/day. Currently at day 8 and I have to say I have zero, and I mean completely zero, herx whatsoever. No change better or worse. Maybe a bit more chest acne/rash, but really I can't say I feel any different at all. I was somewhat surprised by this... Should I keep going with it?
2. I have been considering the possibility of maybe me having chronic sinusitis/ systemic fungemia/ candida overgrowth of some kind rather than lyme disease... I am somewhat suspicious that doxycycline alone did not seem to do much, that malarone isn't doing anything and that quinine and clindamycin did have a notable effect (back pain disappeared in 24 hours, started coughing super thick green yellow phlegm etc.) and basically got me to 90% very quickly for about
4 months. I have severe sinus and throat irritation which is probably my main complaint right now other than back pain, chest acne and insomnia. Igenex was positive (not CDC) for b.burgdorferi and positive for babesia duncani. I believe clindamycin does have some antifungal properties...
Thoughts?
Should I perhaps try fluconazole/nystatin/itraconazole etc.? The acne I have is not responding to pretty high doses of antibiotics such as 500mg azithromycin + 400mg doxycycline daily, which seems sort of odd to me. ALL my blood tests are PERFECT. Even did a blood smear for malaria/babesia was negative although I am told this is highly dependent on the person looking through the scope and their level of experience. Further reinforcing the fungal hypothesis is the fact that I have had a severely itchy head for years even before any of this lyme disease stuff started. Ketoconazole shampoo and tea tree oil help with it tremendously. I also feel like there is some resistance when breathing through my nose and my tonsils have been inflamed for almost a year now with most doctors immediately saying "Oh you have strep throat for sure" to which I reply I have tested for it nearly 6 times now all negative.
Another interesting piece of information is that I am in better shape physically than I have ever been in my life. At 6'3" and 180 lbs with basically zero body fat I was scouted for the school rowing team and had never even seen a rowing boat in my life. I smashed the university tryouts and set a 6:40 2km sprint which is basically unheard of for someone without at least a year of training. I go to the gym 4 to 6 days a week.
Here are a couple photos of my acne chest/rash stuff I mentioned for review: https://imgur.com/a/0iw61BF
