Any secrets for SIBO elimination? Are the herbs the same as anti-candia herbs? This was a topic with a big thread you can get lost in a few years ago. Dont see this hear much anymore.

Im Candida knowledgeable, but not so much for sibo.

What happened: In my quest for healthy eating and cutting out some things, I was getting a little bored and stared to eat more fruit than usual. I have not had ANY added sugar in 3.5 months, so I thought a little more fruit would be OK. I am always leery of any natural sugars due to past candida. So now the higher fructan fruits (FODMAPs) get my gut miserable. Candida is more upper end of GI tract, this is mid to lower end feeling - seems like SIBO. Im taking D-limonine again since this helps gut lining and operation of all internal Sphincters, not just the LES. SIBO is partially from a sphincter not mechanically containing it.

Ive always AVOIDED fruit smoothies at all cost for this reason, NOTE: fruit smoothies are a ticket to "gut bugs" and possible high blood glucose, best not to "do" it. Its an unnatural charge of sugar for any human.

I can relate to burnout. I've stopped attending and downloading the many online summits.

And, for a while, I've been good about staying off the forum. But, once I visit, I get hooked for a few days, before I vanish again. I've deleted all health-related documentaries from my Netflix queue and reduced my consumption of health-related blogs and podcasts to nearly zero. I've finally learned enough to know that I know nothing.

As for Dropbox, to quote Ed McMahon talking to Johnny Carson: "You are correct, sir!"

Dropbox is secure, cloud-based storage. I have a few of their free accounts that allocate 2 GB of storage to each account. So, if any materials in those two previous screen captures look like they may be helpful, just let me know which ones and I will upload them to Dropbox and post the link here in this thread. Then, you can click the link and download them to your own computer.

The videos range in size from 50 MB to 550 MB, just FYI.

I didn't read through the full study but they mention herbs like oregano oil, berberine extract, wormwood oil, lemon balm oil and Indian barberry root extract.

Had a hard time finding this again. Google search didn’t pull it up and I couldn’t remember the lady’s name.

Anyway, this is the most helpful and legitimate sounding information I have seen on the matter. Somehow, I tend to believe this lady over all the well known self-propagating doctors out there and those who walk lock in step after them.

She sounds like she actually knows what she’s talking about and counters some of the conventional alternative talking heads. She goes deeper into the matter than anyone else I’ve read.

sebreg- always good to read what pubmed says

WBF- thats by far the most in depth SIBO write up Ive read.

Looks like the many herb choices for this are better than rifaximin abx. Many are also anti-candida , where rifaximin abx, just like lyme abx, could cause candida which Ive had to many times already.

Glad you brought this up. My doctor suspects SIBO could be the underlying issue for my iron deficiency and inflammation.

My doctor is having me do a breath test for it. Have you done this yet to confirm your suspicion of SIBO?

She talked to me about rifaximin and she said that this is pretty targeted treatment and doesn't typically cause candida.

If my test comes back positive, I assume it is probably from my prolonged use of PPI's.

There are two SIBO breath tests, make sure both are done. I think one is hydrogen, other methane? I forgot. I had one in the distant past, none recently.

Part of the reason sibo happens is the valve between the small and large intestine might not be closing correctly - same deal with acid reflux/gerd, just a different valve in a different place.

Ive read a lot of negativinty toward abx for this, and with a long history of candia myself, id rather do herbal first..

when i was seeing Dr SP in Ct and asked about sibo, he recommended a round of rifaxim as well....i didnt take it as was mentally done with big pharma for awhile

Sibo or whatever was wrong is way better, my #2 is mostly normal now in short time, or I'm just covering it up temporary with supps.

Light stool and gas can be Sibo, pancrease, liver, plugged gall bladder bile duct. Bile makes it brown. Sibo also uses up changes bile.

I covered all possibilities, sibo, liver, gallbladder and pancrease with these steps:

1)Left out FODmap foods- no sibo food source

2)I added a few basic ant-bacterial herbs/spices (what I call the hot italian ones)-for sibo

3)Stopped Probiotics lact B. since these are what most SIBO is! - it just leaked past the sphincter valve to the small intestine.

4)took D-limonene to heal the valve

5)take HCL with pepsin. 650mg with low meat, X2 for high meat/protien meals. HUGE digestion difference. TMI warning, it Normalized stool in all ways. Lowers gut PH (higher acid) which pathogens dont like, balances gut flora.

6)Took Mercolas gallbladder enzymes with ox bile. Per color, my bile was low or gone but didnt know why. Any of the three organs or sibo can do this.

Still taking all of the to get a new repeatable baseline with same dinner protein (bison) every night. Eliminating one at a time should tell me whats working most for me, thus pointing to the issue I have going on. Then I can tell the gastro Dr next week and she will stare at me since I did this on my own without Rx meds (ha ha!) I still want digestive organ testing (bile organs) though.Conventional Drs hate me.
