Hello
My husband just got his results back and it says only band 23 is positive. He wanted the test because he said his joints are feeling stiff.
Should he have further testing??

23 is very specific to Lyme. How long has he had the symptoms? I would start treating if there is no other explanation.

about a month now.
I'm gonna find someone to see him. Our regular doctor says "no lyme" but we all know how that works

As acarined stated Band 23 is specific to Lyme.
It’s enough to back up a clinical diagnosis of Lyme.

Best he sees a lyme literate doc

Band 23 is borrelia burgdorferi OspC (outer surface protein C) which is typically present only in the early stages of infection.

Nope - I’ve seen many band 23’s positive in late infections.

I’d have to check but I believe my husband had band 23 positive.

The bacteria express the protein early in the infection cycle. The antibodies in response to it can remain for years, although the bacteria will later downregulate this protein to try to evade the immune response.
