I took the danshen/skullcap combo for over a year and then bought the tinctures separately since I didn’t know how each affected me. At that time, I had a significantly positive response to my taste test of skullcap, but a noticeable negative response to danshen. As a result, I dropped the danshen altogether for months.
In December, I started focusing more on parasites. I recently got out Buhner’s books again and read about
danshen again. I remembered that it was preferred over red root if you have babesia, and I was debating between adding red root or danshen. I was having pain in the bottoms of my feet and the inside of my elbows (where you get blood drawn). I felt like the pain was caused by something wrong with my blood or blood vessels.
Anyway, I taste tested danshen again, and this time seemed to have a slightly positive response. So I added danshen back. That weird pain went away, at least in my elbows. Can’t say it was the danshen, though. That has been my experience with it thus far.
As for cytokine remodulation, I don’t think anything is helping me. Theoretically, the cytokine herbs should reduce inflammation and pain. Nothing has helped me. It’s like my immune system is hopelessly stuck in over-reactive mode. My body is wearing down more and more from the endless inflammation.
I think it’s worth another try.
