I would like to live somewhere other than my house for a few weeks to see if I notice an improvement from symptoms, suspecting that mold is involved. I can't figure out how to choose a place to go that isn't just as likely to be moldy, though. My families houses are older and have histories of water damage. Houses in my city are old and likely to have histories of water damage. Newer construction has its own off-gassing issues, and who knows what's growing in the central air vents at hotels. If I were considering buying a new house, then I'd do an ERMI, but I can't afford to (and logistically wouldn't be able to) test an Airbnb. I see (and give!) the recommendation to get out of one's current environment to see if there's a change, and I'm ready to set aside the money to do it, but now I'm wondering ... how?
I saw a user-submitted map once of towns where people with mold issues felt better overall, but that doesn't seem helpful in terms of an individual dwelling to rent. Anyone know of a hotel or B&B that advertises that it's mold-safe? How much can I assume about
desert towns - will they be basically mold-free?
Thanks for any tips. Mold is a big theme lately here.
