Mike-
Cd57 is general test of natural killer cell (NK) and T lymphocyte immune cell volume measurements, not strength.
There is some false info on this too such as this is not an accurate test. LOL. Its accurate, just might not revile what some people were hoping for.
If they are low enough, they can "pull down" your total white blood cell count as all the lymphocytes are part of this total average.
One might say this is where the proof is as far as lyme damaging the immune system; there are many people who feel "cured" but still have low cd57 and if they bother to check, other low immune cells like B's and possibly some of the Immunoglobulins. I've reasearched this online and found it to be not uncommon with lymies and even "cured" lymies.
In the case that this sample cd57 test is continuously low, remember that further deeper more specific immune cell testing is available from standard insurance taking labs.
I went and had several repeated lymphocyte panels from several different labs. They were all very similar, enough to paint a screwed up "post lyme" base line over 9 months (I am cured / healed/ in remission, whatever you want to call it). I am re-investigating this again, with a new Dr. who knows immune cells better than LLMD's.
So yes, this might still be from current infection, or it might be the aftermath.
