Back on the Bactrim but.....

Hello all,
Ok so I had to stop the bactrim a few weeks ago due to herxes too bad, my doc know and it is his instructions to back off or stop when herxes get too bad. I stayed on mino the whole time though. Ok so I started and I went with half doses so I cut the bactrim DS in half and take two times I will do this for a week or more depends on herxes. Believe it or not on day three now and wow I am herxing but this is not as bad I can not believe that bactrim and mino is working this good but the bactrim is half. Had a new symptom I never had too I was watching tv and broke out into a mild sweat for about 10 mins I felt hot, and forehead beaded up and chest but nothing else. Thanks to all I feel this combo will get me to a better place then I have been. God bless you all and I pray for you!

Bactrim definitely works, but be careful with this if you've got adrenal problems. It caused me to lose a lot of sodium, which gave me a headache.

I just switched Rifampin to Bactrim lasts week along with my Clarithromysin, 4.5mg LDN, Alinia x2, lipo OoO, and Nystatin Rx regimen since last summer. I've since got a return of some of my Bart sx with sleep distrurbances, sore heavy arms, fatigue, and increased brain fog and agitation. Not having a good week.

Those are a lot of my symptoms and i am half dosing the bactrim! Tickbite666 wish u luck i did five days of full doses and it about killed me man those herxes are terrible. I gave it a few days off and then started mino again for two weeks and half dose bactrim till i can tolerate the move up. The heavy legs and arms and twitching does mean it is killing right? I really do not know!

I don't know if increased Sx after starting a new protocol are from a herx due to die off, or your just pissing off the bugs and they are getting back at you. 8^) It's all an experiment. I think it is good to see some reaction to a new ABX regimen.... good or bad !

This is my third time with Bactrim in my protocol in the past eight years, and each ABX combo was different. I have to go back to my journal to see what sx changed in the past.

Yes, hard to figure out for sure! I always thought it is them fighting back, or attacking but most think from reading this forum for a bit it is herxes. But why do i feel moving? Who knows hopefully someone knows!

I've noticed the 'fighting back' thing with bartonella, when I took antibiotics that it was resistant to. It seemed like herx, but the bartonella infection got worse. I'm not sure exactly why this happens. My first guess was that killing borrelia released some bart that was hiding in the biofilms. There might be more to it than that though. Perhaps the bartonella is increasing efflux pumps in response to the abx. Bartonella has a really messy metabolism because of its protein catabolism, so if it increased its metabolic rate to run the efflux pumps it would generate a lot of toxic waste.

The bartonella was not resistant to mino and bactrim, and it died from that and eventually the herx lessened.
