Dear all,
I am approaching the end of month 2 on the Cowden protocol and wanted to check if it is normal to start experiencing herxing symptoms 1/2 months after the start (I would have expected a more sudden response from my body). Strictly speaking, I did experience herxing symptoms already from the start of my protocol (mainly exacerbation of skin eczema, potentially also peaks of anxiety). However, some other symptoms like joint/muscular pain, stomach bloating and stomach general discomfort and even chills/feeling of having a cold are appearing just in the last 1-4 weeks. I wanted to check whether this is normal and whether you might know what the reason for these delayed (?) symptoms are. I never experienced traditional Borrelia symptoms or noticed any tick mark on my skin but gave positive on blood test (both Borrelia antibodies and depressed CD57) plus started having other very uncomfortable health issues pretty much overnight (mainly skin problems, intestinal disbiosis and sudden and multiple food intolerances). After a long period of time treating my intestinal health with very strict habits (pre/probiotics plus additional natural supplements, very strict and natural diet, bringing stress levels down to minimum) I reached a very good level of recovery, although I never got back to my condition before. I always had the intuition there was some underlying bacteria/parasite/virus being the ultimate root cause and I kind of feel I am on the right path to address the final cause. So I guess my intuition here got to mean something...
Thanks a lot for your support and wish you all the best on your recovery paths! It IS possible!!!
Magdalena.
