How did the mold get there, is the house humid? Maybe a dehumidifier would help.
Yes, I think mold in foods is something that is frequently overlooked. I react with MCAS to coffee, nuts etc, I don't know whether this is because I became allergic to these foods, or because of the mold in them. Dave Asprey talks about
this a lot.
I am not sure if someone shared this on the forum (very likely and thank you) or I read it elsewhere, did you know that citric acid that is so often added to different foods as preservative (ie canned tomatoes or tomato paste, juices etc) is derived from starches fermented using aspergillus niger, black mold!! They could produce citric acid from other sources but this is of course the cheapest way! I am not sure if this is the case with ascorbic acid too, synthetic vitamin C, but I only take natural since I read that.
However, since I now have the experience of getting out of the moldy environment, and now being back in it, I can attest that removing mold helps with EVERYTHING. Everything had calmed down after a couple months of being mold free, my gums and teeth, my reactivity to foods, to smells, my depression, I started to feel good and look better, and feel good about
myself, and life in general. Now that I am back in this house all the symptoms came back.
Are you maybe being exposed to mold in your house, like some major source of mold? If mold has formed on the mattress maybe it's somewhere else too. That might be what is keeping you sensitive, at least that was my case.
It is always interesting, and very useful to find out about
food intolerances, but if this is an expensive testing I would leave it for until I've been out of the moldy environment for a few months. I think reactivity to food (and other things) in our case strongly depends on the acute exposure to mold, and depending on that, you'll get different results.
Whenever I see my llnd she suggests all kinds of different testings, but I realized that the best investment is to clear your surroundings of mold.
