Acetyl l carnitine doesn't agree with me either. When I did take it before I started to get a reaction to it there were no big immediate changes and there were no small ones either. I think you don't take supplements that your body reacts to.
There are other products known to support the mitochondria. - shilajit, Co Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid. Having an impact on the mitochondria is complex. Some sites suggest we need magnesium, detox, .antioxidents, protein, low carb diets - which we all do anyway. Your doctor probably has too much faith in what carnitine could do for you. And you are right in listening to your body first.
