Hey guys, just a note on the MCAS/Histamine intolerance symptoms. The main cause is a deficiency with DAO as I'm sure most of you know. An inability to clear out the histamine, due to the lower levels of DAO than usual due to numerous variables.
N.B I had a thread at the start of the month regarding MCAS/Herxs and bowel movements. Consider that BM's are part of the digestive process and allow for the movement of food through the digestive system, thus releasing more histamine as it travels through the intestines.
Here's a link, particularly useful if you have tried eliminating foods and such but have had no such luck
https://www.amymyersmd.com/2017/10/histamine-intolerance/I tried eliminating so many foods, to the point that I was only ever eating 6 wholegrain buns a day with butter. Only just realised, that the only thing that brought on all the symptoms is propranolol - ironic because I've been using it to deal with palpitations brought on by antidepressants etc. So just putting it out there. I'm phasing out all medications and have introduced foods that promote DAO (eggs are good,) I'm on benefits (welfare) and in financial difficulty (my monthly food budget is about
£40) but I feel hopeful now.
Also things like antibiotics can disrupt the bacteria of the gut and thus, decrease DAO production. Second to that, herbs may do this also BUT herbs like Salvia Miltorhizia actually PROTECT and PROMOTE healthy gut bacteria, this is from Buhner's book and I concur with him. I am going to pause on the herbs until I've restored my ability to process histamine.
I hope this helps. No matter how rough it is, do not give up! I have family issues (I was illegally adopted as an orphan) and I need to be ready for court etc and I've been losing my mind and hope trying to figure things out, but I know I'm gonna be alright now. Stay strong folks, we will get the justice we are due soon!
