Hello again,

It is about 100 days from my first symptoms, in the meantime I have had two negative Elisa tests but was clinically diagnosed and received 3 weeks of Doxycycline.

I experienced very early neurological symptoms which are still ongoing and disruptive. My GP says that NICE guidelines allow for a Western Blot test now, being 12 weeks (plus) post infection and still symptomatic, despite previous negative Elisas. Unfortunately he is unsure how to get me this testing, so is enquiring with our most local General Hospital.

Has anyone here had an NHS WB test under circumstances similar to my own?

Thanks for replying. I am in The New Forest, Hampshire....

I was looking at the private labs this morning but wasn’t sure which I should request, so thank you for your advice

Thank you, I used to live in Portsmouth, I bought my first home in North End after being a student there and living in Southsea, Fratton and Buckland....it all looks different now, not so many pubs!

I think my gp would be happy to arrange The phlebotomist if I am arranging the rest!

Oh, I am so sorry, I hate the frustration of knowing something that other people wont believe. I have been lucky enough to have been taken seriously, whilst a differential diagnosis is also being pursued, 8 blood tests and one x-ray and counting! However, the Doxycycline seems to have been largely ineffective re my neuro symptoms.

I will get all the testing I can. I remember asking the doctor if he thought that Doxy would be effective seeing as I had muscle spasms and internal tremors and stabbing pains so soon after the initial flulike symptoms, he pretty much said that that was what was available to him, so.....

I expected doctors round here to be particularly clued up re Lyme disease seeing as it is duch a hotspot here in Hampshire.

Bellamy - you had a tickbite with the tick on you for 36 hours with symptoms starting soon after?
This was in the summer?
That is enough for a diagnosis of lyme.
I recommend you focus on getting treatment (if you’re not already treating) asap while this infection is fairly newish... and generally more responsive to antibiotics.

If you want to test - go for it - but don’t delay seeking treatment for months in the meantime.

Regular doctors won’t treat you appropriately with the correct abx and dosages - for a long enough time anyway.

So you will need a LLMD/LLND for treatment... unless you choose to treat yourself.

Yes, you remember me correctly.
I am doubtful of the availability of Lyme Literate specialists here in Southern England and in part my GP is helping me to pursue testing because he wants to rule Lyme in, so to speak, so that he can be sure he isn’t missing an alternative diagnosis.

I have been following some of the very good advice found on this site and am not all out for a diagnosis rather than treatment in the meantime.

This site has been an invaluable source of information and comfort, so thank you for all your good work.
