Lactoferrin

Can someone help me understand how lactoferrin works as a biofilm buster? I know most use it with xylitol but can it break biofilms on its own? I had been using boluoke for biofilms for a very long time. Recently decided I’d switch my daughter to the lactoferrin/xylitol that most seem to be using these days. I added the lactoferrin by itself this week and she’s not doing so hot. Wondering if it is the lactoferrin, as I haven’t changed anything else to her protocol. I’ve definitely seen my daughter flare without an obvious reason before, but I can’t help but wonder if lactoferrin is the cause. Anyone know if this can break biofilms without the xylitol??

Thanks girlie. She’s on a good combination of antibiotics and babesia meds so I feel like she’s covered in that regard. But I was under the impression that lactoferrin only inhibited biofilm formation. Did not realize it actually could break them up without the xylitol. But I’m not sure... do you know?

Yes she’s on IV rocephin, minocycline, rifampin, mepron, ivermectin and many herbs. She pulses tindamax as well. It’s a lot but she had been improving

Ok thank you. I think I’ll take a break from it to see if that helps. Hoping others may know about it’s use alone. I’ll watch dr j interview as well when I get a chance

If anyone is interest, I thought I’d update this thread. I listened to Dr J’s interview that Girlie posted. He mentions biofilm treatment with xylitol and lactoferrin. Says the lactoferrin chelates iron from the biofilms and that it likely works in other ways not entirely understood as well.

Hmmm - interesting - I wonder if chelating the iron make the biofilms weak?

Yes that is what Dr J implied. Chelating the iron in the biofilm weakens them.thanks again Girlie for referring me to his video.
