Persister drugs

I need some clarification on the forms of lyme that antibiotics address.

What are persisters, are they related to biofilms? I've been reading but some of you guys actually have LLMDs and such to explain these things to you. I'm in a bit of a bad way but I've been reading and it seems to be that persisters live in biofilms? I'd appreciate clarification on the matter.

In either case, what drugs address the persisters? I've heard of dapsone and bactrim but that's hardcore and probably far too risky for me to be taking without a doctors supervision. I've heard that tinidazole has activity against cysts and some mild activity against biofilms.

I know for biofilms there are enzymes like nattokinase and lumbrokinase.

Persisters are inactive borrelia burgdorferi bacteria that cannot easily be killed by drugs like minocycline or cefuroxime. Some may be protected by biofilm.

Dr. H says his patients have had success with dapsone. Be careful with that as the side effects are bad. You will need to take folate supplements and get blood tests to check your folate.

I tried bactrim and it didn't work all that well, plus it messed with my kidney function. I had to eat a lot of salt to make up for the sodium loss and the blood tests showed elevated creatinine.

Atovaquone seems to work somewhat, but it's crazy expensive. The combination with proguanil (malarone) has the same risks as dapsone due to the anti-folate effect.

The only drugs I've really had success with are disulfiram and valproate. Disulfiram I couldn't tolerate, so now I'm taking sodium valproate. It's not quite as bad as disulfiram, but it is causing similar effects of sleep disruption and cyclothymia.

In addition to folate, you need to test for G6PD deficiency.

I keep reading here in the forum that tinidazole is only used for cysts. I dont know why. Tinidazole is one of the strongest abx against biofilms and all forms of borrelia, plus it atacks bart and babs.

Research by Eva Sapi PhD shows that the antibiotics doxycycline, metronidazole, tinidazole, and amoxicillin can reduce biofilm size by various degrees. The best of these is the drug tinidazole which reduces biofilm by 50 to 55 percent. While doxycycline reduced biofilm by 40 percent, metronidazole by 30 percent and amoxicillin by 30 percent.

And dont forget about NAC wish is used also alone or in combination with abx, dont underestimate NAC when it relates to biofilms, i use it when my stomach is better, because if used daily it can hurt the stomach, at least mine.
