Rifampin and Liver Function Tests/Frequency

How frequently did you guys get tested for liver enzymes and kidneys on rifampin? Has anyone got any statistics on how commonly people have to stop and are there symptoms of elevated enzymes that are obvious? I take it this will be dose dependent too right?

I'm gonna get home testing done every month or so, I reckon this will be good enough right? Or is even more frequently necessary? Cost is a factor, doing this (my GP definitely ain't supporting me here) which means I can only manage around once a month if I want to continue with ordering abx as well.

Also, is milk thistle contraindicated with rifampin? Just concerned about liver and stuff. Really sick of this disease. Each days is excruciating lol. Just want to get rid of these symptoms as soon as possible as safely as possible.

When I started Rifampin (in past), my doctor wanted me to test my liver about 10-14 days (I think) after I started to make sure my liver was doing ok with it. After that, I didn't test because my doctor didn't mention doing it.

My current LLPA (Dr. J protocol) is much more diligent about it, and I test every 3 weeks or so.

If you do the Milk Thistle, it sounds like you want to take it at least 4 hours apart from the ABX to prevent interference.

Interesting your LLPA has you testing every 3 weeks.
Dr J has us test very 4 weeks (supposed to be the Monday following week 1

Girlie, I think mine will be every 4 weeks also once I get to the Lyme Babesia Part B. These Part A rounds are only 3 weeks. Once I get to Part B, it will be 4 week rounds.

That makes sense. She wanted testing after each cycle.
