I'm pretty sure I was approaching ketosis during a recent 24-hour fast. I can't seem to push much further than 36-48 hours though, and my adrenals are exhausted so I'm not even sure if they produce proper amounts of adrenaline anymore. Super low carbs, I try to stay below 30 grams. In the few weeks before this, I had very poor diet on a few days (think: pasta, pizza, mac n cheese) and experienced a flare of symptoms following, achy joints, fatigue and all the other symptoms ad nauseam.
During this last intermittent fast, I felt like I could exercise during the latter part of it, like my muscles would complete the autophagy that was kicking in and burn more fat, but I had backed-up work to do and ended up staying shut-in. Only did some light calisthenics, felt good though.
Back in the day I would have played a sport for 2 hours and do a light workout at the gym then ride my bike back from there. Fasting and strict diet might get me there again, I hope!
The only thing I had for this last 24 hour-intermittent fast was: cold filtered water, hot tea ginger, peppermint, green tea, coffee with stevia and a few grams of coconut oil.
Easy cheap meal is a can of tuna on a bed of cabbage, season to taste. Tomorrow I might make broccoli and ground beef. Today I had red quinoa and jasmine rice, microwaved with some butter.
