To some extent, yes. Because- serotonin is made in the intestines and the brain. The brain and gut are connected via the central nervous system. Its now thought that this goes both ways.
Plus higher stomach acid kills some pathogens in the gut. And the aiding digestion leaves less for gut pathogens to feed on.
Most of us make less HCL as we age. Low T3 will do that too.
My experience: My gut is always worse during my northern climates shortened and clouded sunlight. I dont get major depression from low light, but I do get more anxiety. February, although usually cold, is way sunnier than Nov-Jan, and my gut is now improving again. Now March, my anxiety is already unnoticeable some days..
