Ive possibly tried more diet modifications than most current members on the forum. Its certainly not easy when presented with so much variety in our modern shopping experiences.
That said, I'm a firm believer in knowing what your bodies specific benefits might be in eliminating said certain foods vs following trends. Then there is more reason/likeliness for you to succeed. This is done by trial , error, and testing. If you get symptoms from said foods- even more reason to avoid them- you live and learn lol.
In a nut shell, when there are reasons to avoid food, you'll more likely succeed.
Im a numbers geek. Seeing better numbers on labs tests also make my day. And I already knew people who have died from poor food choices. I want to enjoy my post-lyme years as long as possible.
If you keep your mind entertained that also keeps it off food to some extent. Ive never totally quarantined during this time, but dont live in the city either and have an "essential" job which keeps me busy. That helps. When its minus 10 to30 F in the winter for sometimes a couple weeks straight.......eating healthy gets more changeling!

I dont eat as strict as I did a couple years ago, but I did learn my boundaries with certain foods. Gluten is the one that I must certainly avoid. Chocolate can create and does give me GERD. Salt is a silent killer and I'll admit, im a salt addict way more than and sweets any-day. I try to avoid popular chips and go for the healthier ones. And buy smaller bags.
Low salt nuts are good snacks, but costly. Carrots and celery are cheap.
I quit 99% of alcohol for one year. Never liked hard liquor , luckily, since alcoholism does run in the family genes. . Beer is gluten infested, but I used to enjoy it on hot evenings. I have discovered some great, very tasty, new GF beer, but it costs a lot and I cant just have one, as they are too good. But then the next day my brain is dull, I had brain fog to many years to deal with that again- another reason to avoid it altogether.
Even the vast amounts of natural sugar in fruits is not necessarily the best for you in large quantities. There are many confusing theories on even natural sugars' health hazards, it does depend on your bodies individual make-up. High glucose, gut yeast and SIBO are obvious possibilities that are not uncommon here.
Even what few Indigenous people that there are left around the world can have health issues which are diet based if they are truly eating off their local land (very pew people today are doing that). Just how much wild fruit is there growing in your area? Unless your in the tropics, not much. And some of the few indigenous peoples in the tropics today have sugar related issues. They most likely did in the past too. Blueberries and melons are prob the healthiest fruit.
