My mom and I watched it yesterday. I kept having to pause to explain what was said and what was happening. It was too fast paced and the scenes where they had writing on the screen, it didn’t stay up long enough for me to read, so I had to pause.
The content was pretty good, although they only focused on a couple of patients. This was my first time seeing and hearing Dr. Ginger Savely and Dr. Middleveen.
The unbelieving dermatologist was hard to watch. It’s inconceivable to me how any half-witted human, let alone an educated one could honestly believe that something like that is a delusional mental illness and that these people are doing this to themselves. Even after hearing the report that Middleveen got on the samples identifying the spirochetes in the tissue and the analysis of the fibers identified as keratin and collagen, he just flat out refused to acknowledge reality.
I did not really understand the earlier CDC research that debunked the reality of the disease and dismissed it as delusional. They only covered that briefly in the film, and I either didn’t hear or understand all of what they said.
I also didn’t understand why the unbelieving dermatologist was invited in the first place. When he started his talk, it was almost like he was set up and tried to deliver what he thought they expected out of him. If he was genuine, that is one pathetic, delusional human being. He seemed like the only delusional person there if he really believed what he was saying. Scary that people like him are allowed to practice medicine.
I have not had Morgellon’s. The depth of pain, suffering, terror, and isolation it causes is horrific.
I really was impressed with the young PhD who studies medical history. He was great. Very intelligent and thoughtful.
I am even more amazed at people like Dr. Savely, who seem to have a calm, compassionate spirit and continue on in spite of people like that dermatologist and in spite of losing patients (presumably to suicide). God bless them and give them strength and wisdom and understanding to keep plowing through and not give up on the patients, the research, or the activism.

Edit: Corrected doctor’s name from McElveen to Middleveen
