Hello,
I am new here and unfortunately think I have Lyme disease. I live in MD and have been hiking a lot this past summer. I do recall taking a live tick off my arm at one point so I know they are around and that I’ve been in proximity. I don’t even remember being bitten though. Recently I got a haircut and discovered an almost perfect circle rash on the back of my head. Due to covid I was hesitant to go to the doctor, but based on research I knew I needed to be on antibiotics ASAP. I used telehealth instead and explained my symptoms and also showed my rash. They prescribed me 28 days of doxycycline and it’s now been about 2 weeks. about 5 days in I had terrible leg tingling along with horrible night sweats for a few days. All I can say is I have never felt sicker in my life. Thought I was dying. After a week of improvement I have had another set-back. My left leg feels numb/tingling/painful. My left arm also seems to go in a out of numbness and as well the left side of my face. I thought I was having a heart attack or something the other day. I finally saw a doctor in person yesterday and based on my symptoms and rash, agreed that it was probably Lyme. He tested me but it came back negative. He also did a ekg, X-ray, and covid test. All normal/negative. However I’ve read that if you get tested after already being on antibiotics, it can give a false negative? I never even knew this type of fatigue was possible. But it seems to me like I’m waxing and waning due to the antibiotics. I really hope if I have it, I caught it in time and won’t have long term symptoms like this. Any advice or shared experience would be appreciated!
Thanks
Hi Jeff, welcome to the forum!
If you got lyme just a few months ago - your infection is still quite early and with proper treatment with a LLMD your chances of full and quick recovery are good.
You will need more than just the doxy.
You had a tick on you, and a bullseye rash along with symptoms consistent with Lyme disease. You have Lyme disease.
I urge you to find a LLMD and schedule an appt ASAP.
Let them know that it’s recent and you don’t want to wait two months to get treatment.
We can help you find a LLMD - start a new thread titled: “Looking for LLMD in/near _________”
