In link: "Reducing salt intake is applicable to people around the globe, as nearly every adult consumes too much salt: on average 9–12 grams per day or around twice the recommended maximum level of intake (5 grams) by the World Health Organization."

Since Ive never been a "sodium / salt counter" , I thought Id look up the worst offenders in my kitchen which is some gluten free stuff, and yes, 9–12 grams a day would seem to be a lot.
Amys gluten free, low fat, split pea soup: 1170mg a hole can which is 1.17 grams.
Glutan free bread, two slices: 260mg, so .26 grams
Bush's black eyes peas, 14oz can : 490mg, so .46 grams.
Aldi mixed nuts 1/2 cup serving: 170mg, so .170 grams
Enjoy Life lental chips, 1 oz (1/4 bag) 340mg, so .340 grams
Good and Gather (Target) Glutan free fruit and nut bar 10mg, so .01 grams
Luna G/F salted caramel protien bar 270mg, so .270 grams
all the above is only 1.51 grams
Im guessing worse case, if I pigged out I could reach 3-4 grams in a whole day with the above processed G/F food, and with me salting natural foods as main meals that have no sodium like veggies or eggs, meat ect.
In the past (6-10 years ago) eating worse, I could see myself getting 6-7 grams of salt per day, which is still under what the artical is mentioning (9-12 grams a day). Wow, that would be a lot.
