Looking for a top neurologist in Boston area

This is not related to Lyme disease, but I know there is a lot of knowledge on this forum and I was hoping someone might be able to help.

My father has been losing his memory for the past 6 months. It has steadily been getting worse. Today he can't remember anything. Things he told me 5 minutes ago, he doesn't remember. I want to get him to a top neurologist in the Boston area to get evaluated. He has been to a local neurologist and had an MRI but it did not show anything unusual. This neurologist was not particularly helpful.

Does anyone know of a really good neurologist in the Boston area that you might be able to recommend? I think he needs to be looked at ASAP because his memory is really getting bad. It's actually getting kind of scary at this point.

. ya my dad is getting worse too...according to alan macdonald 9/1O alzheimer brains have borrelia biofilms clogging bloodflow with amyloid plaques...idk if he wants or could handle treatment but the only llmd neurologist i know of east coast is dr elena frid...a tea of ginko , ginger and ginseng helped delay the inevitable keep us posted gfields

Dr Katz in Orange Ct is a fantastic neurologist and an llmd. On a scale of 1-10 he is an 11.

I would not go to frid.

Very sorry to hear this, gfields.

I have seen several Boston neurologists, but none that specialize in memory. The best was Carolyn Bernstein, who is a headache specialist at the Osher Center. Peter Novak is very famous for dysautonomia and small fiber neuropathy. I will look through my notes and ask around for you, though.

The folks in my life who have been afflicted with dementia (and there have been too many!) have progressed the most slowly with regular exercise, for what that's worth.

Some folks in the functional medicine world believe that dementia can be stopped or even reversed with proper (unconventional) treatment, which I'm sure you have read about. Three healthcare practitioners I've seen discuss this online are Daniel Pompa, Christine Schaffner, and David Perlmutter. This is not my area of expertise or anything, but you might find their thoughts interesting.

Pompa - remove source of toxicity, regenerate cell membrane, upregulate cell energy, reduce inflammation, reestablish methylation. Big on metals, binders, dental issues, epigenetics.
Schaffner - glymphatic drainage, sleep, melatonin. Sound therapy, light therapy, autonomic response testing.
Perlmutter - neurogenesis, neuroplasticity. Sleep, exercise, vegetables.

Look into the work of Dale Bredesen. He has a clinic I believe and also trains practitioners in his protocol. I read his book several years ago and was impressed.

Bredesen has a protocol called the Bredesen Protocol. The Functional MD I went to trained with him. He discovered that some patients had dementia from mold exposure. I’m sure other toxins can also cause dementia.
