Hi Guys! Wondering if some of you methylation nerds can give me insight into the weird ups and downs of this continuous journey...
I've been doing a bunch of trial and error stuff, trying to figure out how to optimize my methylation cycles, and ended up figuring out I have problems with sulfur last week. Going on a lower protein diet and eliminating high sulfur veggie/supplements has helped bring my symptoms down by a small, but measurable (and hopefully increasing!), amount.
I'm getting my 23&Me results back in about a month, but for now I'm guessing I might have a problem with my SUOX or CBS cycle, and am following the typical suggestions for them, as they can't hurt. (L-orthinine, molybdenum, etc...).
In this process, I have realized that the normal methylated multivitamin I take (with 500mcg methyl b12, 400mcg methyl-folate, etc...), doesn't seem to impact how I feel in any recognizable way. However, when I take a complex that has Hydroxy/Adenosyl B12, I get a strong and noticeable reaction (more energy, a little more anxious/jittery, etc...).
This is a reaction that I read about commonly with Methyl B12, but never with Hydroxy/Adenosyl B12. If Methyl B12 is easily utilized by the body, why would I react to 200mcg of Hydroxy/Adenosyl B12 and not react at all to 1mg of Methyl B12?
Should I take the reaction to Hydroxy/Adenosyl B12 as a sign that I am deficient, and continue to supplement?
Any insight would be appreciated!
