Hi guys,
I'm buying TUDCA but it says this on the bottle:
Consuming this product can expose you to more than 0.0000005 g of lead.
Should I find a different brand or is this ok?
The problem with that sentence is the "more than" part, I mean, how much more? It doesn't say.
I used to live in California and these signs are all over the place (prop 65), but I never actually gave it any attention and so I never learned if it's actually any bad.

Yeah that's funny. I guess they're satisfying some legal obligation with that statement, but I don't know anything more than you do. What is the brand?

yeah - that kind of warning sucks - very poor quality of information.
i haven't seen it on other TUDCA products - so I didn't know it was an issue with TUDCA in general.
what's happening here is that legislation in California called Proposition 65 seeks to limit the exposure of the public to known toxic chemicals in food air and water by setting limits.
the 0.5 micrograms per day dose are regarded by proposition 65 as the safe limit for lead
so if a manufacturer knows or suspects their product may have more than this amount in it they need to print this warning to protect themselves.

Garzie I read your comment in the other thread.
If you check the label on the product:
https://store.allmaxnutrition.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/tudca-us1002-rght.png
You'll notice it contains brown rice flour (likely to fill up the capsule as a filler).
I think (I could be wrong) that the lead comes from the brown rice flour.
Researchers detected lead levels between 6 and 12 milligrams per kilogram in all the samples they tested of commercially available
rice
imported into the United States from Taiwan, China, the Czech Republic, Bhutan, Italy, India, and Thailand. In many of these countries, farmers grow rice in areas close to factories and cities. Lead from these sources likely contaminates nearby soil and water and then leaches into the rice, Tongesayi says.

Excellent research Rainy!
It looks like there's an exemption on food products with "naturally occurring" levels, so we don't see prop 65 warnings on rice. However, a TUDCA supplement is not a food product, hence the warning/statement.
I think you figured it out.
