Tinidazole alcohol

I know alcohol shouldn't be consumed with tinidazole but will the alcohols in shampoo and body washes interact with the drug too. Or is it strictly ethanol that causes this reaction?

The alcohol warning for Tini states that it "MAY" cause an Antibuse reaction. Not all people are that sensitive. I was cautious when I first started taking Tini and avoided drinking for a few days before and three days after my two day per week pulsing schedule. I then reduced that down to no drinking only on the days I pulsed with no effects. Just be careful... your mileage may vary.

as far as i have read - the "antabuse like reaction" is only really extreme with antabuse (disulfiram)

the metronidazole / Tinidazole class of drugs can do something similar but its generally much milder and less common.

you are likely to still feel more side effects if you consume significant alcohol while taking it - that's what it says on the packet - as it reduces your ability to detoxify alcohol - but i have not heard of anyone becoming so sensitive that they had to avoid things like mouthwash or shampoo on anything other than Antabuse - and even then that only seem to happen to people who are chronically ill with lyme.
