Noticing water damage in apartment

It doesn't hurt to ask, but my own lease came with a "mold addendum", which basically said that if there's mold that it's not their fault etc.

What I would do is get as many pictures as possible while it's still wet.

Keep track of any doctor expenses and try to document everything, you might be entitled to reimbursement.

I would also not sign anything or make any verbal agreements with your landlord until you are able to get a lawyer.

Keep in mind your landlord might pull a 180 on you and claim it's your fault.

Walkingbyfaith, how is your mold situation going?

I'm starting to appreciate a lot more the fact I have a mostly mold free environment. The other day I went somewhere that seemed pretty non-moldy to me. I had a horrible mold type reaction, and I couldn't figure out why, except that someone informed me that there had been horrible water damage there in the past.

It can be so hard to find a good apartment (which I'm finding out because I'm looking for an apartment now). Most of them just look moldy, just from pictures!

Right now we have a water leak in the basement, which thankfully doesn't seem to be affecting me on the 2nd floor.
