LLMD near NYC, NY

Can somone recommend good LLMD in NYC or surrounding area?

I live in NYC and we have a weekend place near Dr. H. Do NOT go to Dr. H. if you can avoid it. I know too many people who have gone down that road.

LLMD's can vary greatly. I would look for someone who has been specializing in LD for a long time, NOT an internist who know says they treat LD. I don't think we can name doctors on here but we had success with Dr. B.R. he was in Manhattan. Last I heard he is now in NJ. We had also gone to a well known LLMD in D.C. -would definitely NOT recommend him. I know two people who are having success with a Dr. S. on Long Island. I hope this helps.

Apologies. I probably shouldn't have written so harshly. No beef at all.

I just know too many people who have been, and spent so much $$$, and now refer to him as, well the slang for a bad doctor that begins with a Q. We have a place very close to where he practices and a lot of people have had LD over the years went to him.

The LLMD we did end up really liking is also very $$$, they all are, but some are just better.

That said, many people like the D.C. LLMD and we had terrible experience. It is a personal fit.

Again, my apologies. I should not have commented on any doctor. I won't do that again.

I always try to help if I can. I know how expensive LD treatment/doctors can be and how stressful it can be when we are already feeling low. I thought I was helping.

I was trying to say that our LLMD was also expensive, so it wasn't that - and ours also treated with antibitioics, so it wasn't that. On the upstate dr. I was just passing along of opinion(s) and it is only my sampling of acquaintances and I just should have kept mum.

It was years ago that I took my son to the D.C. LLMD. There were numerous administration issues. I moved calendars and appointments to make sure the doctor would see my son. I was told he would. We booked hotels, my husband took off work, etc... a junior practitioner saw my son. At the end I asked when the doctor was seeing him and was told he wasn't in that day. Then as I was checking out I saw him walk by. The meds my son was put on were too strong and he was reacting. No one called me back. Luckily two mods on this board came to the rescue, as they so often did. They really saved the day. I am forever grateful. Then my son got a tick on him and I wanted to know what to do. I called the answering service and someone on duty called me back to say it had to wait until a week day. I said "You are on the phone now can't you just tell me." It was stuff like that. So I was just sharing my experience.

Everyone has a unique experience and if a doctor works and/or is helpful that is all that matters.

And yes, we have had the most success in Kansas.

yep - i'm all for free expression of opinions and experiences - so happy for you and anyone else to share - thank you for that.

as WBF asked - its just easier for others to put your views in context and use them in their own decisions if they understand the background and reasons for the views - as well as the views themselves.

I have heard from another forum member that LLMD BR is a great doc.

I do remember your experience with the J clinic. There have been some changes there - for the better.

When I call them - if it’s in the morning, I usually get a call back by the next business day - or the day after that. It used to be longer - usually two, maybe three days. And often needed prompting with a second phone call.

As far as urgent/emergencies during non office hours - I take it the same as my “regular” Dr here. She isn’t on duty 24/7 - if it’s really urgent - I will go to the ER.

It can be a problem getting Dr J himself. That is who I wanted - and it took me six months before he had an opening.
I was on his protocols with the NP though, but Dr J has so much more knowledge and experience than his NP’s - even tho they do consult with him.. I wanted him.

I do know people who have been happy with the NP’s and don’t even care to see Dr J.

Hey huddie, I emailed you. Could you please tell me more about the doctors you liked? I’ve been desperately looking for where to go after dc Lyme doc couldn’t fix you.
