Hi,
So as most of you might know, there are all these liposomal supplements now that you can buy that are supposed to be absorbed a lot better than regular supplements.
Examples are:
Liposomal glutathione
Liposomal vitamin c
Liposomal turmeric curcumin
So what is a liposome? Well it's a fat-soluble membrane that encapsulates a water-soluble interior.
So a simplified example would be something like: sodium ascorbate (Vitamin C) is water soluble, and in order to make it liposomal, you would put a membrane around it that's fat-soluble (such as sunflower lecithin).
That membrane is often lecithin (from either sunflower lecithin or soy lecithin).
The problem with liposomal products (for me anyway), is that it's relatively expensive.
Because of that, I've been watching all these videos and reading articles about
how to make your own liposomal supplements.
What I've learned is that the process for creating liposomal glutathione includes:
- Distilled water
- Regular L-glutathione
- Sunflower Lecithin
- Ultrasonic Cleaner
The ultrasonic cleaner (which cost about
$50 for those wondering) is where you put everything in.
The theory is that once you put the ultrasonic cleaner on and it starts vibrating on a high frequency, that the L-glutathione will then be encapsulated by the sunflower lecithin and become a liposomal form.
For those of you who prefer a video (like me), here is a how to video that runs through the entire process:
https://youtu.be/7hlnga22vniThe process starts at 7 minutes and 55 seconds into the video.
Anyway, I was doing all this research and there is one thing I can't figure out.
Which is: how important is alcohol in this process? In the video above for example, the lady uses alcohol as part of the process.
But there are also "recipes" online where the process does not include alcohol.
So that's where I'm stuck because, for several personal and health related reasons, I really don't want to use or ingest any alcohol.
And I'm wondering if there is no point in doing this without alcohol?
Would glycerin work as an alternative maybe?
If anyone can help me solve this, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
