the only thing i can add to the discussion here is a story i heard of a youtuber who had severe Morgellons disease.
he believed this was a fungal infection ( though latest research seems to point to Lyme and Bart and other bacteria from the same alpha-proteobacteria class being involved and forming biofilms in the skin - will find a post that link

Firmly believing it was fungal and following some old pre-abx era medical texts - he treated it with high doses of SSKI solution - very high doses

it seems like it nearly killed him - but finally cured him completely - you can see how he is a different person in his later videos.

i found it really interesting - but was also concerned about the toxicity of Iodine at those doses - and potential for long term damage if a person has hashimoto's also

yep - the doses that guy took were huge - i think something like 60 drops a day of SSKI

he had massive open wounds in his arms and legs before - and completely healed afterwards though - so it was really interesting
