I'm so sorry that you are going through this, CLB. I don't have much time to post right now, but a few things that come to mind that help me pull through hard times are:
- I have a child, pets, and a big garden that rely on me. I feel like with a child especially, I don't get to give up.
- The sky (or some other things about
nature) is always really impressive if you remember to look.
- Certain music that i loved as a teenager can really bring me back to a good vibe sometimes.
- I think about
my grandmother's example when she was struggling with cancer toward the end of her life, and imagine what she would say to me.
- I remember something great from my past really vividly, feel grateful for it, and imagine times in the future that I might be able to feel similarly.
- New movies, books, shows, articles, etc. that I want to watch/read, and old favorites.
- Musicals and operas. I can't not feel moved by certain musical numbers.
- Keeping up with friends and neighbors, living vicariously.
- Looking through old photos and journals.
- Working on a project, like a piece of art or cards for loved ones, that will be satisfying to finish.
I'm sure more will come to mind soon, but those are a few things that keep me going. I know many of them are pretty idiosyncratic, but I'm glad to have spent a minute in this mindset, so thank you for that.
