Hi everyone hope you all are hanging in there. I’m feeling better after a major herx which I believe was caused by monolaurin. I read such great things about it for hsv2 but felt incredibly sick after a few days of taking it. Has anyone had this happen? My sister said that I’m killing to much to quickly. She read that we are supposed to support are body before we even try to kill anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to take for support/immune boosting? I’ve also been intermittent fasting which seems to be helping especially with migraines. I fast from 6pm - 10am. The one issue I’ve had with this is my hsv2 has been popping up like crazy! Does anyone know what this may be? Am I killing it or just disrupting it?? I have the MTHFR mutation but I detox as much as I can.

Ps: I also started NAC about a month ago and find it very helpful . This could also be why my headaches have calmed down.

I react horribly to monolaurin (I take Lauricidin). The best way i can take it is in the smallest dose possible. Lauricidin comes in little grains and I only take 2-3 of them for a few days, and then stop.
I believe keeping your detox pathways open is hugely essential to support the body.

8 pellets of Lauricidin for 2 days in a row caused the most vicious flare i've ever had. A serving is a scoop which is about 80 pellents mind you. It lasted over a month, i will never touch the stuff again

i have read several accounts on this forum of very strong herx like reactions to monolaurin

it is known for its ability to kill encapsulated viruses - but its action is actually much broader having activity on some bacteria, and fungal infections too.

on top of this most lyme patients are actually more sensitive to killing treatments than the general population - probably due to the stress their systems are already under from infection and its downstream effects.

people favour different detox methods -to try to help thier bodies deal with the load from killing treatments

i think there is a post with lots of suggestions in the first post in the forums titled "start here"
epsom salt baths get a lot of mentions
i find gentle exercise and sleep some of the best things for me

often we have to simply reduce treatment intensity for a few days to let our bodies catch up and then start again a little lower than before and build up more gradually

Like dcd, I had a horrible response to monolaurin early on. At a very slow pace, I built up in hopes of helping some with Epstein Barr. Yet I never got near the recommended dose of about 80 pellets.

And as Garzie mentions, Lyme does seem to make so many here sensitive to treatments. Seems Traveler found heavy detoxing her path to getting better by allowing more herb treatment.
