To answer your question on calming it, this was my theory year ago. I convinced my dr to put me on gabapentin and it did calm it. I went from 5 a week to 1 every few months.
I also developed nerve pain not long after that. Whether they’re related I don’t know, but not sure I can recommend messing w gabapentin
I wonder if LDN would help due to its glial cell activity
Ketamine and mexilitine likely have action due to their ion channel antagonistic effects.
I’ve also wanted to try ibudulast. It’s a glial cell inhibitor/anti-inflammatory used otc in Japan. I have some here just never tried it
Things which trigger it for me: hypoglycemia, high doses of zinc, creatine, sustained use of NAC, glutamine, melatonin. The first 5 I’m positive about
, the last one I really think so but haven’t taken it in forever to test the theory.
If you are on zinc or nac id recommend coming off. Zinc pushes calcium into the ion channel which makes it hyper excitable if you have this issue, if I remember correctly, and NAC is cysteine which is excitotoxic in high levels. This would cause a VM for me after a month or so of usage
