I talked to Dr. C in mount Kisco NY and he said IV will cost 1600 per week. Which is absolutely insane. With no guarantee if it will work. He does infusions at his office everyday. If I went to another llmd and got a picc line, how much would it cost? or how much did it cost for you?

With Cameron being out of network it’s going to cost around that and The same goes for most lyme doctors because insurance won’t cover it. Other LLMDs will have similar prices, you could get lucky and find a PCP to work through insurance but then you’d be working with a doctor who does not understand Lyme and Co well. And you’ll have trouble getting rocephin treatment past the 1 month mark.

Contact infuserve america in florida to get a good price on IV Recephin and supplies.

Also there are 7 or 8 states that require health care insurance to cover all Rx and related costs prescribed for Lyme related treatment for as long as needed. IV Rocephin is covered under medical treatment vs standard Rx co-pays.

Another option would be to take an IM Rocephin equivalent that has a pretty good penetration ratio.

Just for reference, a 1 gram vial for the IM (not IV) cost between $3 and $6 in the US.

Where it gets confusing is where they add their own cost (+profit) to the price of the drug.

So don't let them tell you the drug is expensive, that's not true, it's not the drug.

Why do people go for IV rocephin and not IM rocephin?

I think that home infusion over a 3 to 4 month period is easier than getting daily injections. Just my opinion on having IV for 16 months, and Bacilin injection for only one month.

Google "IM vs IV Rocephin" and read a comparison of results.

IM rocephin does not have near the half life of bicillin and hurts bad if u hit a vein . . . i got a port installed which meant i could access from home and take a shower without bagging arm ...infuserve america has pump balls that were super easy and portable and even froze well for later use ...
