i have been using CSA along with houttuynia and mahonia and teasel
didn't know for sure which infections i am dealing with so wanted broadest possible coverage and this is what i came up with after much reading of buhner's books etc
i had tried sida, crypto, mahonia and houttuynia once before and had horrendous herx - but then after stopping my tracker showed that my symptoms were in fact better than they had been - at least for several weeks before returning - so i had the notion it was helping - but the herx was so strong it was drowning out any positive effects
that was while i was still thinking in the short-sharp-shock-type-treatment approaches
i have since changed my thinking after failing several short full dose treatment approaches - as they simply did not work and the herx was unmanageable for me.
in the last 18montsh or so i have been building up much more gradually - stepping up only a few % every few days - and found that by doing this i can get by with minimal herx - and still function from day to day.
i am now on pretty much max dose of all of these herbs for long term use - and its definitely helping - but i have bartonella - and i think that makes progress very slow no matter what you do.
for me this was part of a step by step approach - i first started on the buhner lyme herbs ( not the strong antimicrobial ones like CSA) and lifestyle changes and diet changes ( keto) - and i think that helped enough that i could tolerate more antimicrobial treatments better -
then started to gradually add the antimicrobial herbs when all of that was stable - i am not out of the woods yet - but i am functioning more or less like a normal person for a reasonable part of the day now - and the trend is slowly upwards
