Clotrimazole lozenge

Llmd just prescribed this and I've heard of the cream but not these tablets. You're suppose to let them sit on your tongue and melt for 15-30 min. Anyone ever try these? It says they're used only for oral candida of the throat , tongue or sinuses. Idk why they would give me this even though my insurance didn't cover the nystatin. Candida is more systemic and I want something for candida in the gut more not just oral. Long story short I popped a Diflucan yesterday felt nausea and when I urinated , yeast literally was falling out into the toilet. I didn't have any yeast or suspected symptoms down there prior to taking the Diflucan which led me to believe I maybe have yeast in gut and it is passing through my urine? My llmd says they don't use Diflucan at his office because of the side effects and risks from it? Never heard of any other llmd saying this. The nausea passed as soon as the yeast passed out of my urine stream. I also just found out candida can be responsible for intercystial cystitis which is what I've been suffering with only around my cycle and I've also had white chunks falling out of urine stream. No kidney stones yet to account for. Is it possible candida is effecting me this way and does anyone know if clotrimazole will eradicate candida in gut or not likely? Thanks

Diflucan can definitely cause adrenal insufficiency, so it's something to be careful with if you have suspected adrenal problems.

I did okay using mepron as an anti-fungal, but that can be tough to get insurance coverage for.

Dam, and I just took a Diflucan once yesterday. What a bummer, think my adrenals should be ok since I took it just once?? I mean not that I think my adrenals can get any more screwed than they are. What can I take for adrenal support BTW? Thanks

If your adrenals are that screwed, you'll need to take hydrocortisone. If you're having other hormonal abnormalities too, you should get a 17-hydroxyprogesterone test, and possibly other steroids (testosterone, estradiol, DHEA, vitamin D and 1,25-(OH)2D).

I was told by another doc that hydrocortisone can cause adrenal problems in the long run and it can lower our immune systems to get infections more easily. It's something I'd be willing to try short term. My llmd said he's start me on pregnenolone after I start my abx which I'm wondering wouldn't he start me on it before abx??

Yes, most of our adrenals are screwed, but there are several different reasons for it, and this can affect how effective treatments like pregnenolone or ashwagandha are.

Some causes of adrenal problems are:

- Stress from the infections

- Side effect of medications such as rifampin or fluconazole

- Excessive conversion of vitamin D to 1,25-(OH)2D, which results in upregulation of CYP3A4 which destroys cortisol

- 21-hydroxylase deficiency, a genetic disorder present in 1% to 2% of the population, which results in inefficient cortisol production

Testing would be useful to determine which of these you're dealing with. In particular, a 17-hydroxyprogesterone test can identify the genetic disorder, and a vitamin D 25-(OH)D to 1,25(OH)2D ratio can identify the vitamin D problem.

If you have the genetic disorder, pregnenolone isn't going to be very helpful as your adrenals will continue to accumulate 17-OHP and convert it to testosterone.
