Cheap small mold free house?

Hey I came across these today. They’re like pre fab houses made out of concrete, steel and special foam. Apparently they’re mold free because of this? Elon musk is apparently living in one. Elon’s was $50k, so cheap for a whole house, but not cheap. Anyways just figured I’d mention it in case it works for anyone.

I have not seen or heard of these till now. Of course certain designs and materials are better for certain parts of the country versus others.

What part of the country did you see these for sale?

Elon is currently living in,..... Texas?

I think they’re in Texas but eventually are supposed to ship anywhere. They had in the ad they’re supposed to be hurricane proof, so I guess part of the thinking in designing them was to have them resistant to flooding. Supposedly you can combine 2 units and get a 2 bedroom 2 bath version too. Some videos say it’s at cheap as $15k and others say $50k. You of course would have to buy the land and hook ups for plumbing and electricity and permits etc which would add to cost. I didn’t do a deep dive in research.

I looked it up and saw the pictures. If you are considering this for mold or chemical purposes, I would contact Corinne Segura of MyChemicalFreeHouse to see what, if anything, she has to say about it.

Just from the pictures, I would say the flat roof and crawlspace are problematic, but there are solutions for those issues if you set it up differently to start with and have extra money to invest.

I feel like I’ve seen versions of it with a pitched roof. I think the flat unit was made since sometimes they like to stack them to make buildings. I think it’d be neat though because if there are enough maybe you could tour one and see if you’re exact before buying.

Just a note that this particular tiny house still isn’t really available. Very early in production. You can join the wait list though.

I spent some time looking for a realistic and affordable tiny house and unfortunately the market seems to be a bit premature - but definitely a promising thing to come!
