Good morning, I have been reading this forum for awhile. Perhaps a good resource to share ideas and support. My fight began in September 2022 as we began a large remodel of our home (go figure?). I began to have migraines with aura, something I had never experienced before. By the third occurrence it spread to my eyes (light sensitivity) and I began to get neuropathy in my hands and feet. It got to the point where it was hard to walk. Tired all the time...
I went to the Mayo clinic ER and was tested for lymes (along with everything else). I tested positive and was prescribed doxycycline (sound familiar?). By day 13 on doxy my joints began to swell, and I was referred for a lumbar puncture. Results were Lyme CNS Infection IgG, CSF (reactive). Lyme CNS IgG Ab Index Value 3.7 (pos). It had indeed found my central nervous sytem. I was placed on Rocephin 2g once daily for 4 weeks. It was a fight to get it prescribed but I thought worth it. By week four on Rocephin it had stopped the joint swelling and some symptoms were better - but far from "cured".
I met with Infectious disease at the end of week 4 and was pronounced "cured". I was not shocked knowing the disparities between western medicine and ILADS guidelines. I was able to find a LLMD two hours away and scheduled a visit.
My LLMD prescribed both herbals and antibiotics. Notable was the treatment was based upon fighting not only lymes but babesia. The constant head pressure on the right side of my head and occular symptoms led to that diagnosis.
Currently being treated with Ceftin, Z pack, crypto plus, artemisinin, malarone, boluoke, curcumin and glutathione.
I am full dose on all but the artemisinin - it's kicking my butt at a tablet twice daily on Wed - sat.
I have been hovering around 60-70 percent of my former self. I was able to wear my contacts for the first time in months and that has been working well as I hate to wear glasses. I am finding this to be a mental fight equal to the physical as I have three kids and have coached baseball all my life. This spring I find myself taking a break to get things back in order. Fortunately I have a supportive wife and family. I have a lot to be thankful for.
Anyway, my story thus far for what it's worth. Oh, and we did finish the renovation - love it! Find the light in the darkness..
