i know many here have some form of auto-immune disease - often driven by these infections.
i was interested to hear about
three supplements that have some decent studies behind them for helping at least lessen symptoms of auto-immune disease - and at best help to reverse it.
they seem to have immune regulating properties - and tend to be powerful natural anti-inflammatories as well - which seems particularly appropriate to these chronic infections as they are known to drive chronic inflammation and also dysregulate immune responses.
i have been reading about
some of these for a while now - but this guy - a now v famous functional medicine guru had a recent article and podcast on them - which i thought was quite well done - with lots of info on recent studies - and includes dosing and how to use them etc
the three compounds were
- Curcumin from Turmeric root
-Thymoquinone from Black cumin seed oil
-Omega 3's from cold water oily fish ( i was surprised to hear some of the immune regulating properties )
i have to warn you though - the guy has become very commercial - so there are ads etc and the show is v cheesy in places - but i think the guy is basically honest, quoting real studies and trying to help people
but i think he is also likely to be launching his own supplement along these lines - and hence the show highlighting the benefits. so take it for what it is.

Podcast intro
Inflammation is at the root of all chronic diseases from which approximately 80 million Americans suffer. This natural bodily process is meant to help us, but when environmental and lifestyle factors push our immune systems into overdrive for long periods of time, systems begin to break down, resulting in a host of chronic conditions.
I cover:
• The research behind how these 3 nutrients impact a wide range of inflammation-driven conditions
• How to use these nutrients to balance and regulate your immune system
• The significance of inflammation in the onset, progression, and severity of chronic and autoimmune diseaseshttps://chriskresser.com/my-top-3-nutrients-for-fighting-inflammation-and-autoimmunity/____________
supplement co's will market ultra versions of these based on super bioavailability claims or some other claimed super feature (typically with a super price to match!)
And its true there are issues with bioavailability, of curcumin in particular
but its likely we can still get many of the benefits from food sources if we take some simple steps - eg using turmeric in food has been shown to be effective in human trials ( or heating turmeric with oil and black pepper for instance has been shown to increase bioavailability 30-80x ) - so we don't necessarily have to line the overhyped supplement industries pockets.
for instance, i take organic cold pressed black seed oil that i purchase in 500ml bottles, eat oily fish for omega 3's and home made turmeric and black pepper paste daily.
i know auto-immunity is an issue for many and any small thing we can do to control it can improve quality of life - so i thought it was worth posting
final note on black seed oil - its not the main constituent - but it can have some Carvacrol in it (same compound as in oregano oil) - so just be aware - large doses could be antimicrobial - so start gradually
I hope its of some help
all the best!
