Severe Bart Herxing

Hey guys-

Is it logical to have signifignatly increased bart herxing with fluconazole and herbs?

Fluconazole has always been the hardest med for me to tolerate and i think thats due to how it hits bart.

Severe ankle and leg pain are flaring badly as well as bladder, testicular, head, and everything else.

I am in the super sensitive category and only on 50mg plus some herbs. I am on day 5.

I have tried to tolerate and failed abx for the last 10 months so this is the new direction.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had severely increased symptoms with bart/fluconazole herxing.

i regard myself as medium sensitive - so not reacting to a single drop of a herb tincture - but still having to start on maybe 1/20th of the full dose and work my way up - but over time it has always been possible to gradually titrate up without completely disabling myself - and now tolerate full doses just fine

if its not tolerable - you may just have to ease off and go more slowly / in smaller increments.
this should still get you to the same place over time

i find herx generally stronger from herbs

I'm not sure how strong the samsara formulae is
it could also be that you gradually got used to the herbs - then suddenly added 50mg of fluconazole - and felt the effects of that - so it would appear to give stronger reactions - but it could be that you were just now adjusted to the herbs

fluconazole is also a relatively new medication in terms of use for tick borne illnesses - so we don't have lots of data on what to expect with it

its use is based on a study by Zhang et al at Johns Hopkins who did a screen of already FDA approved drugs for bart - and a related antifungal drug in the same family as fluconazole called clotrimazole came out as one of the most potent drugs they tested against stationary cultures of bartonella.

however clotrimazole is generally only used as a topical antifungal - hence people have been experimenting with fluconazole - which is a related drug - but already used systemically.

yep - bartonella is a beast

pains in the feet and lower legs are certainly one of the symptoms associated with Bart
