EDIT: Solomans seal tincture can be taken orally OR topically when used for muscle/tendon/fascia tension or injury. I use it topically where needed. Relief is felt very quickly.
And since I dislocated my left knee last spring, Ive used it a couple times a day on my knee since. Knee dis
location and pulling / straining many of the ligaments and muscles can take up to 18 month for full strength recovery (long time!!).

l still have a bout 8 ounces left over from the last batch I made which was September 2022.
That probably would’ve lasted me through winter but since fall is the time to dig up this Solomon seal, root/tuber,…I thought I’d dig up some more and make enough tincture, for the long run plus for some friends /relatives, etc.
I made a post on this last year titled:
“My first attempt at making Solomon seal tincture”

So in the past, I used both 100 proof vodka and 151 Everclear. In all honesty, I cannot tell the difference between the two after using them. My first two batches I got overly technical with the ratios, I don’t think you need to do that either I could not tell the difference.
I used a simplified recipe for it this time from Mountain Rose herbs blog for fresh herbal roots, which was:
1) fill the jar with approximately 1/3 to 1/2 fresh chopped up root. (I cheese grated mine versus finally chopped)
2) fill the remaining 2/3 jar with 100 proof alcohol.
3) shake daily, let sit for two months before using.
That’s pretty straightforward and simple and they say that’s good enough. Fresh root, or herbs, uses less alcohol because of the moisture already in it. Dried root requires approximately 25% more added alcohol.
Last two times, half of what I made was fresh dug up from my backyard, the other half was in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator for six months after it dried. I could not really tell a difference between those two batches.
When you’re judging strength of this from how you feel pain relief it’s pretty hard to tell which recipe worked better. All I can say is both ways worked so this time I did it as simple as possible, no scales involved.
I’ve seen this plant growing in the wild, my whole life not really paying attention to it until It start growing wild on the edge of my backyard. Then I put some rabbit fence around it and let it grow more. I did educate myself on false Solomons seal versus the real plant and this is the real deal that was growing wild in my backyard and local woods.
Before the pandemic 1 ounce of Solomons seal tincture bottle sold for $10-$12. Nowadays it’s 15 to 20. Like everything else for some reason it’s sometimes double the price now. I have a bout $11 worth of vodka in this and a few hours of time to end up with about
15 to 20 ounces when I’m done.
When it’s ready to use, I run it through some cheese cloth (in Walmart kitchen utensil isle) over a metal screen strainer .The remains that stick in the cheese cloth I ring out by hand (twisting tight/compressing) into a funnel over a jar. This works good enough. Then I just pour it from my main glass jar of completed product into 1 oz. dropper bottles as needed. (One in my bathroom, kitchen, and work desk!!).
This was a fun learning experience, and it works for my remaining muscle soreness after workouts, exercise, etc. and from what decades of lyme and injuries /scar tissue left behind from injuries that did not heal correctly during this period.
I let a friend try a bottle of it who’s been labeled as having fibromyalgia, it worked wonders for his joints. Other friends and family members want to be next in line.
(Now my buddies, who are not used to natural supplements, joke that I should do a "medicine dance" around my next backyard bonfire nodding to my family's ancestry, ha ha.....)
