Antibody when you have chronic Lymes

It’s not uncommon for antibodies to not show for several weeks.

So you’re saying you have chronic Lyme, but recently got a new bite and re tested?

If that marker was positive during chronic - re testing doesn’t give any value.

If that marker was negative during chronic case - it doesn’t surprise me it would stay negative even with re-infection.

yep - as above - antibody based tests are known to perform poorly for chronic infections

have you tested positive or negative for lyme before this recent bite?

if negative - but you do have lyme - and then a new tick bite - logically whatever is stopping your body making antibodies to the longstanding infection is quite likely to continue to prevent antibodies to any potential new infection with lyme ( could potentially go either way - but a high likelihood of poor antibody response)

if tested positive before - and you had lyme before the new tick bite - then the new bite may or may not transmit more lyme bacteria - but again not necessarily cause any change in antibody response / test outcomes

its therefore a little difficult to see the value of testing in this circumstance

we don't have research to rely on with this - but its likely that if a persons immune system is not making antibodies to a current infection - additional infection with the same bacteria will probably not cause a fresh immune response.
