Acute Viral Infection - looking for recommendations

Maybe add garlic? Lomatium? Elderberry, echinacea, or astragalus if you don't have autoimmune disease? Xylitol nasal spray if it's a respiratory infection, possibly one that also has cayenne and/or oregano if you want to get intense? Probiotics? Nebulizing or diffusing antiviral essential oils? Melatonin and cannabis have been found effective against COVID.

Sounds like you're already doing a lot of good stuff! Just thought I'd post a bit of a brainstorm for you.

Is there a chance you have developed a secondary bacterial infection, like a sinus infection or lung infection, that might benefit from antibiotics?

That has happened to me before. I would feel like I was getting better, then I would get worse again.

i am in a similar position

picked up a virus from my nephew around 4 weeks ago - and still experiencing a flare of symptoms from it - although it does seem to be subsiding now

this is pretty typical for people with lyme - or even people partially recovered like myself - its very frustrating as we work so hard to make steps forward - but many LLMD's describe exactly this in their patients - and it does normally calm down again after a few weeks

i haven't found anything that seems to help much - other than doing all the usual things that we do to try to look after ourselves
good food, sleep, rest etc

rest may well be an important factor - as there was some studies indicating pushing too hard too soon during recovery from the acute virus is a risk factor for triggering longer lasting symptoms - eg in long covid.

i haven't tried allicin for viruses - but i see there are some papers suggesting it is antiviral against COVID and poss some other viruses

BTW on sourcing allicin - we had a discussion on here last year i think - where it was found the actual allicin content of the most popular brand ( allimed/allimax) was miniscule - so i would either buy a brand that is third party verified ( there are a number that have therapeutically relevant dosages that are independently verified) - or just used crushed garlic cloves ( it takes around 15mins after crushing for the enzymes in the garlic bulb to make allicin )

i did try elderberry for 4 days last week - but it either caused or coincided with a further flare of the frustrating symptoms i have been experiencing since getting this virus, which were not really tolerable for me ( aching all over to the point where i couldn't sleep properly ) so i stopped taking it and things settled down a bit to more or less how they were before i took it. i cant be sure if it was the elderberry that caused it - but my days aremuch worse when my sleep is dysrupted so i dont fancy trying it again just now

i have taken the same elderberry many times before without issues - so if it was causing a reaction - then i can only assume its related to the virus driven flare i am experiencing

its very odd - as well as aching all over i am getting many spontaneous injuries - like pulled muscles, cricked neck, mysterious pains in a knee or heel that last from less than 1 day to a few days - then clear up as mysteriously as they started - feels like inflammation in my body just went up a couple of notches and caused all sorts of down steam issues.
