Can you get ebv more than once? Not just reactivation, but completely new infection the second time or you are immune one you already have it?

Hi Luka

Once you have had it( 95% of people have) it stays inside you at a very low level for life. Kept in check by the immune system.

It can reactivate if the immune system is suppressed.

The other thing to know is that ebv and borrelia antibodies cross react.
So positive tests for ebv may be due to lyme.

It can certainly feel like you can get it multiple times, speaking from my own experience having EBV and then it becoming dormant and reactivating again at a later stage. It feels like you have 'caught it again' but in reality it's what Garzie said that it's the same virus which has become reactivated
