Insurance demands on doctors in 2024 is crazy

Even though most people here can’t be helped by average doctors, They are still useful for filling in the blanks in between Your specialty doctors, Lyme disease doctors or whatever that you have to pay for 100% out of the pocket.

When I see regular doctors, I generally make a topic list that goes in a certain type of order that makes sense. It’s basically a flow chart for if they say yes, or no, in their opinion to my knowledge on the subject. If yes, go here if no, go there.

That allows me to quickly make decisions on assumptions of what insurance covered test they will agree to.

This is about efficiency so I get the most out of my limited time at the doctor appointment.

I don’t need to see Lyme /tick infection doctors anymore. But my next journey in life is more difficult (To a certain point ). As many of you know I have something very rare that falls under the large category called primary immune. So rare there is no forum for it however, it has Facebook and it sucks there. There are only two doctors in my whole state that I can see for this, down from three. One past, Dr. Just let me know her clinic no longer covers what I need.

So I guess my past Lyme experience somewhat prepared me for this.

So I do a lot of home work in between, actually trying to self educate regular doctors in my appointments about my condition that they only heard about in medical school but never seen in real life and besides me as a patient, probably never will see again.

Summary, these are ridiculous 10 to 15 Minute appointments make maintaining health very difficult nowadays for people who have out of the ordinary health issues.

The whole world knows about the mayo clinic, which is really not too far away from me, but my insurance does not cover them at all because they are expensive. I think the mayo is about $800 USD per hour or maybe even more if you actually had to pay cash.

We have a different system here in Canada.
We don’t pay for medical appointments or procedures…it’s covered by the government.

But services like physio and chiropractor we pay. If you have a good job - and have extended medical - then you can get reimbursed for the charges.

I wouldn’t agree with that.
We have good doctors here.
But they aren’t good at treating Lyme.
I assume that’s the same in the U.S. The regular GP’s don’t treat Lyme and that’s why we have LLMD’s.

My “regular” dr supported me throughout my treatment - by giving me lab requisitions or as DrJ called “safety” labs.
