cefuroaxim vs Tetracyclin

hey i just checked the website of my old Lyme doc. (he is in pension) and he dont use any doxy/mino in his protocoll instead i guess cefuroxim. I cant find any studys or anything. But Maybe somebody has an idea, why some of the Lymedoc prefer cefuroxim over Tetracyclin? His protocll his also quite wild, here is the link:

For chronic Lyme disease it’s recommended to take more than one antibiotic.

You could take Ceftin and a tetracycline (eg minocycline) with Ceftin

yeahh for sure in combo. But i always though for lyme mino is the strongest. That why i was wondering why some of the lyme docs dont even use mino/doxy and just using ceftin.

Ceftin has been shown to be one of the most active antibiotics for borrelia -

meaning it has some of the lowest mean inhibitory concentrations of all of the available antibiotics

for this reason its often used by many LLMD's in their combination abx protocols

but most of these LLMDs also use tetracyclines - so its a case of using ceftin as well as tetracyclines and other abx like macrolides, rifamycins and others - rather than instead of tetracyclines

minocycline is not necessarily the strongest - its is thought to cross the blood brain barrier better than doxycycline because its a smaller molecule - so is sometimes preferred for that reason.

if you want more info on the relative merits a search on PubMed or Google Scholar with "cefuroxime and borrelia" will bring up a number of papers
