there was also some data in there on how many people in the USA tested sero-negative via standard western blots - but turned out that was because they had different species of Lyme causing borrelia, eg b. Mayonii, B. Californieinsis, B. Alfzelii etc that the western blot based on B. Burgdorferi B31 strain was not detecting.
i also had 2 negative western blots and a negative C6 elisa based on this B31 strain - then tested positive to a test using antigens from B. Garinii.
Ridiculous as it may sound - they still use this type of test all over Europe - despite most lyme cases being caused by species other than B31
