Yes, as you know getting a diagnosis and proper treatment in the UK is near impossible - so i have been self treating
i was misdiagnosed as having CFS and then fibromyalgia for around 5 years - and had become quite ill by this time - and my response to treatment was then very slow
i have since found i also have a bartonella infection - which is known for making treatment more difficult ( see the link n my signature for how i did this as tests are bartonella are even more problematic than those for lyme )
i reached around 50% recovered after several years using mainly lifestyle changes, diet changes, comprehensive herbal protocols for both lyme and co-infections - and various other supportive treatments concurrently (no one thing made a big impact - it was many things each helping just a little - adding up to a big difference.
once it was clear these approaches were not going to be enough to get my health back, in the last year and a bit i have added antibiotics alongside everything that helped get me this far.
i have improved significantly since then - i am somewhere around 70-75% recovered at this point - perhaps more on the good days - so for example i am able to exercise pretty hard - but still in the thick of treatment - which is more like a full time job at this stage.
progress would have been even better if i had not had two bouts of COVID and one of parvovirus in the last 18months - as these have set me back a few months each time
i am certainly encouraged that its possible to get my life back after 9+years of illness - but i have the sense that i am not over the hump yet and need to keep going to avoid stalling or falling back
so that's exactly what i am doing
i hope its of some help
all the best!
