Has anyone had this surgery for NDPH/chronic daily headache/migraine? I Skyped with DR Peled of SF this week (one of the very few legitimate doctors that performs this surgery). Considering getting it in a few months as I have no options left (please don't scold me, I really don't and am desperate. Nothing has worked and I've been researching this surgery for a year now).
PLEASE comment if you have had this surgery. When and where did you get it? By whom? What areas were treated (occipital, temporal..), what was recovery like? And most importantly, what was the outcome.
Thanks

Didn't see this post until I commented on the other. The person I talked about
in my other post is actually the daughter of a friend of mine. Let me get in touch with her and see if she would be willing to get on here to talk with you. Don't know why she wouldn't. I know we're all always seeking help from wherever we can find it. I'll let you know what she says.

Thanks so much pound head, that would mean a lot. If she agrees to talk to me please let me know. Then you can edit your profile to make your email address visible temporarily so I can give you my info. Much appreciated.

Hi DBM, Just checking in with you. I didn't see my friend on Sunday, so I haven't been able to ask about
her daughter. Haven't forgotten about
you though. I'll get back in touch soon. Hope you're having some good days

Hi PH, I'm doing horribly.
I got the diagnostic nerve blocks done last week. Two in the front (supra orbital & trochlear) and 2 in the back (occipital). Even with my head being completely numb, I still had my headache. It "might" have helped for 10 minutes… or could have just been a placebo effect. Within 30 minutes I had a horrible headache.
If I had positive responses to these blocks (even for just an hour of little to no pain), I would have immediately scheduled this surgery. Because the blocks didn't work, I can't say surgery is a good idea. It is possible the surgeon does the blocks slightly differently, but my doctor that did them is an acclaimed headache specialist that does know what he's doing.
Back to square one. Please let me know if your friend ends up getting the surgery, and if she had these blocks help her or not.

Hi DBM,
My wife had daily level-10 headaches for years. She did Nerve Decompression a few times (all failed). You may wish to look up Dr. Jeffrey Brown in long island, New York. Dr. Peled told us there was nothing he could do beyond what was already done, but Dr. Brown, with his cutting-edge high resolution MRI, saw blood vessels wrapped around nerves in the brain (yes, scary). He went in, and now she only gets menstrual migraines and an occasional (much) lesser one. The chronic daily migraines are gone. I can provide more info if interested.
