Prolonged Migraine and Aura for over 3 weeks now

I have been suffering for migraines for years now, I am now 19. Over three weeks ago I got a different type of migraine which resulted in me going to hospital. I had a CT scan and all came back normal. However after my aura stage my eyes didn't come back to normal and three weeks in my eyes are still blurry and out of focus. It feels like something is blocking a part of my vision.My eye doctor said my eyes were perfect also. Has anyone else suffered with something similar? I am out of ideas my doctor gave me Zomig which only gets rid of the headache for a few hours. The pharmacist has ordered Propranonol. I cant concentrate and I have exams in over a week. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. confused

Hi Angela-
I’m sorry you are going through this! 😔 I have really bad migraines also.
I would suggest you call your doctor back and tell him what you just shared with us.
If you don’t , he believes everything got better with the Zomig.
There are many meds on the market to help you through your exams. Sometimes
Stress exacerbates them also by the way.
When you are at your doctor, discuss getting a referral to a Headache Specialist- not a Neurologist.
That is going to take time to set up.

Thank you so much for your reply, I'm sorry that you also suffer with migraines they really are awful .I will make an appointment to see my doctor and hope that he will give me something. smile

Welcome and I am empathetic to your auras.


I have them daily, in colors. When I wake in the morning my vision looks like a kaleidoscope.

There are some days aura free.

I am on a whole food diet, nothing artifical and no food dyes/colors. This does seem to make a positive difference.

Hi, Angela123,

That is scary that your vision has not returned to normal after a migraine aura. The first time I had one I had no idea of what it was and thought that I had gone blind!

You may want to do what I have done: 1) See a NeuroOpthalmologist and 2) See a Migraine specialist.

How are you doing now?
