I've had MS since 1980, but was diagnosed in 1/1986. (In those days the doctors didn't want to put down a MS diagnosis, because I would then have a pre-existing condition. (Unfortunately & unbelieveably this is still the case.until/or if the prexisting conditions pass in 2014).
Anyway, after being with my husband since 1975 and got married in 1984; I knew I might have an exacerbation after having a baby. I finally got pregnant at 39 yrs. of age and had a healthy boy that is now 22years old. I'm in Blue Cross/Blue Shield HMO of IL, I was able to go "out of the system" due to being older & having MS. So I got a specialist in "high risk pregnancies". By then I also had endrometriosis (2 endoscopies to get rid of that & a lot of counseling & medicines & then fertility problems.
Never felt better than when I was pregnant!!! Hormones have something to do with our MS and more hormones make you better (for the time being, but are not good in the long run, as you know). Had a scheduled C-section; as my Ob-Gyn doctor knew that going through labor would be so stressful & might hurt my MS more. Ok, I did get an exacerbation within the 1st to 2nd year, but it was mild (only washed out my vision so I only saw black, white, grays). Also took for the 2nd time after being diagnosed some Prednisone for 9 days which made me "crazed" but got my regular vision back. I don't know how bad your MS is (mine is relapsing/remitting although the heat/stress this year may change that as I went on Prednisone 2 weeks ago for 9 days), and still am recovering from the setback. My husband didn't want me to take a chance of getting pregnant; but I tried and I am so blessed to have one 22 year boy!! Good luck
